Total Energy Model for Connected Devices
The total energy model consisted of models and projections for all network connected devices internationally from 2010 until 2030.
A quantitative model was developed of the total energy use of connected devices in the world. Included in the modelling was the connected device stock, sales and network standby energy use information. Resulting models were used to calculate the “upstream” energy impacts that occur as a result of connected devices. Some of the energy impacts identified include those within local area networks, wide area networks and data centres. The models covered the period between 2010 and 2030. This report was part of a series of reports relating to the energy usage of network connected devices.
