Electric Storage Water Heaters: Consultation RIS
As part of the E3 program, EnergyConsult provided consultation assistance on a previously prepared Product Profile that analysed the nature of the electric storage water heater market, the drivers of the market and the impact of the heaters on energy consumption and greenhouse emissions in Australia and New Zealand. Following this consultation, EnergyConsult prepared a consultation regulation impact statement (RIS) to assess the costs and benefits of altering the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for electric storage water heaters. The market, technical and economic assessment of the efficiency of electric storage water heaters was examined, as was the role of such storage heaters in heat pump and solar water heaters. A thorough cost benefit analysis of the policy options was undertaken and consultation with the stakeholders in Australia and New Zealand.
