Evaluation and Development of the Nepal CFL Distribution Pilot Program
Part of the development and evaluation of a pilot Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) distribution program, involving the supply of almost 300,000 CFLs to householders in Nepal by the electricity utility Nepal Electricity Authority. EnergyConsult developed the core design, implementation and M&E components of the program together with a detailed cost benefit assessment. The detailed program plan included identification of target customer groups, geographic coverage, and selection of lamps for the project, role of product vendors in distribution/supply system, detailed implementation process, and detailed M&E plan.
EnergyConsult also evaluated the energy savings and participant reactions to the pilot program. Over 600 surveys and interviews were conducted of participant and non-participants, as well as interviews with retailers and suppliers. Energy and demand impacts were estimated and reported.
