Gas Labelling Discussion Paper and Consultation

EnergyConsult undertook a review and prepared a discussion paper that addresses whether or not the current Australian gas appliance labelling scheme should transition to come under the control of the E3 Program. The paper also considers whether an E3 gas appliance labelling scheme should be formally expanded to New Zealand, and whether or not the scope of products included in the scheme should also be expanded. The report investigates and presents a preliminary cost benefit analysis on the option of making the Australian gas labelling scheme a mandatory government scheme under the E3 program. The cost benefit analysis also includes an assessment of introducing gas labelling to New Zealand under the E3 program.

After the completion of the paper, a series of industry consultation workshops were run by EnergyConsult in Australia and New Zealand. At these consultations, the findings of the Gas Labelling discussion paper were presented along with Gas Space Heater product profile reports. The views and information from stakeholders was collected and documented.
