Normalisation of Field Trials for Standby Power Controllers
The development of the normalisation methodology was part of the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET), also known as the Energy Saver Incentive (ESI). Standby Power Controllers (SPC) became eligible for the scheme, which provided incentives for householders to install energy saving devices. EnergyConsult were engaged to develop a process that allowed the Commission to normalise the results from the field trials of the device to create accurate results. The process ensured that the savings allocated to the SPCs reflect the average savings which are likely to be achieved from the products when deployed in Victorian homes, and are not biased by the field trial design. Mr Ryan undertook the analysis and the subsequent development of a process to calculate the average energy savings for SPCs.
